Bemidji Community Food Shelf

Upcoming Events

Interested in Gardening?

It's time to start harvesting at the Bemidji Community Food Shelf Garden. We have a lot of potatoes to dig and we need your help. If you might be interested in supporting these efforts to gather food for those in need, call the volunteer coordinator for this project, Marge Danielson. (759-9514) or e-mail her at gdaniels@paulbunyan.net to learn more. In these difficult economic times we must find creative ways to serve our neighbors who need food. This project is one way to do that while you are working in an area that interests you. Share your bounty..it will make a difference!

Left Over Rummage?

Turn your used items into cash for the Food Shelf!

Value Smart, a Bemidji Consignment store, will accept items that you no longer want and the proceeds from their sale will go to the BCFS. We collected over $100 in March for Minnesota FoodShare in this manner. The store accepts all kinds of used items including dishes, furniture, toys, hardware, tools and clothing. Please be sure it is clean and in good condition. You are allowed to drop off two bags or boxes from Wed-Sat from 9 until 4:00. Mark the boxes or bags clearly with #3250 and let them know it is for the food shelf. Value Smart is located south of Bemidji on Highway 71, at 144 Peaceful Meadow Lane SE near Calvary Lutheran church. Call them with any questions at 755-9200.

Collect "Our Family" Barcodes

We all know that children cannot do well in school if they arrive hungry. Through July 2012 stores that sell Our Family products will donate 5 cents for every item that you purchase and turn in the label. We have a collection can at the food shelf in a designated area for you to deposit the UPC barcodes. We will receive $25 each time we return 500 barcodes to the company. We will then be able to purchase additional food to distribute to our families in need.

Recycle and Help BCFS

Do you have ink cartridges from your computer and printer that you just toss or don't know what to do with? Place them in a plastic bag and drop them off at the food shelf. Just last month we were able to print our newsletter with the points we received in the MaxPerks program just by turning in ink cartridges we collected from helpful community members. You can help the environment and the BCFS all at the same time!
