“Pinewood Ranger Station and DNR Environmental Education Center”

In 2004 I committed to installing a “DNR Environmental Education Center” on the Beltrami County Fairgrounds.  Phase one was the placement of a DNR Fire Tower on site, Phase two, is the building of the “Pinewood Ranger Station and DNR Environmental Education Center”. The Fire Tower was in place by 2007, the hard part. The funding for the dismantling of the “Pinewood Fire Tower” and re-constructing the fire tower was generated by selling steps to the public on the fire tower and donations.

During fair week this building will house a 1950 Ranger Station, a Smokey Bear Store, DNR and forestry displays.   Before and after the fair week the building will be available for groups like the Master Gardener’s and other horticulture clubs.  We will keep the Smokey Bear Store open from June through August to see what amount of traffic it will generate for the first year.  Then decide about the next year based on the information from the previous year.

The money to build phase two of the “Pinewood Ranger Station and DNR Environmental Education Center”.  will have to be generated outside the Beltrami County Agricultural Association. Building the “Pinewood Ranger Station and Environmental Education Center” will cost $25,000.

Being that the 100th Forest Service Centennial is this year, I have started the funding process to build the “Pinewood Ranger Station and DNR Environmental Education Center”, with donations that this website and video can generate.  We will post all the names of donors on this website along with what State they are from.
