7 years on the BGC board, 2 years left of term
Gymnasts:
Kati, age 12, Level 6
Jess, age 15, BHS gymnast
Meagan, age 18, Formerly Rising Star
# of years I’ve had a child participating in Bemidji Gymnastics: 13 years
Why I have chosen to serve in this way:
The reason I choose to serve on the board was I believe what I have to say matters. I want the program to succeed for all gymnasts, so the decisions that I make are for the benefit of all. I am not on the board for my own personal agenda, or for my daughter’s benefit.
Anything additional:
The gymnastics program has benefited our family in more ways than one. From my daughters’ standpoint, it has helped them physically as well as mentally. They have kept active and physically fit. Mentally, they are able to focus on what they are doing and not letting other things distract them. This ability helps them in their everyday school life as well. My participation in the club as enabled me to come out of my shell. I am basically a very shy person, and have a hard time talking to more than one person at a time. Being on the board and volunteering at different activities has helped me to overcome some of my communication issues. I have enjoyed my years on the board and hope to serve again.
Positions held: I served as Secretary for one year and have served in other rolls

Macy, age 8, Level 4
Mackenzie, age 12, Formerly Level 4
# of years I’ve had a child participating in Bemidji Gymnastics:
8 years
Why I have chosen to serve in this way:
I initially was interested in joining the board to support my daughter Mackenzie; and her participation in Gymnastics and her membership in the BGC. About the same time that I was elected to the BGC Board; Mackenzie’s interests shifted to another sport that is big in our family. My youngest, Macy, continued participating in the gymnastics classes being offered by the Gym Bin. Over the last two years Macy has become a member of the BGC and is now a Level 4 Aerial. I now support her membership in the BGC and participation in Bemidji Gymnastics, and I continue to serve on the BGC board to promote and expand Gymnastics for all in Bemidji.
