Gymnastics in Bemidji ~~ Who Are We?

Meet our Tumblers! The Bemidji Gymnastics Club (BGC)
The Bemidji Gymnastics Club (BGC) is a non profit Booster Club whose sole purpose is to promote ALL gymnastics in Bemidji including the Bemidji High School program, Rising Stars, and Aerials.

We are able to do so through fund raising efforts and the volunteer time of many people who care greatly about the youth of our community. Click here to view the BGC By-Laws.

The Gym Bin
No. The BGC is a nonprofit Booster Club (organization). The Gym Bin is a business owned and operated by Mary Allen. The Gym Bin provides gymnastics instruction to all levels from 3 year olds to Level 9 Aerials and is the Home of the Bemidji High School Gymnastics Team. The Gym Bin owns the building, employs and supervises coaches, pays for insurance, etc. The BGC helps gymnasts by contributing toward some items to lower the cost in which the Gym Bin needs to charge so that it will be more affordable for kids to participate in the sport as well as contributing to the Bemidji High School Gymnastics Program.

★★★ GYM BIN run programs:

USAG Jr Olympic Program - United States Of America Gymnastics (USAG) has a Jr Olympic Program that consists of Level 1-10. Each level
progresses in skills. (Olympians are Elite Gymnasts which is the advancement out of Level 10.) Levels 4-10 are competitive with levels 5-10 advancement
only being achieved with success at meets. Gymnasts range from age 7-18. Many have the misconception that once a gymnast reaches high school age,
they must join the high school team. Unlike Junior Olympic Volleyball and summer baseball that runs programs during a different time of the year than the school sponsored activities allowing athletes to participate in both, USA Gymnastics and High School Gymnastics run simultaneously. Gymnasts choose
which program best meets their need. The following are a part of the USAG Jr. Olympic Program:

Super Bees (level 1)
Rising Stars (levels 2-3)
Bemidji Aerials (levels 4-10)

Gym Bin Classes - The Gym Bin offers an assortment of classes for boys and girls of different ages which include:

Gym Bees (boys and girls ages 3-5)
Super Boys (boys ages 4-5)
Gym Boys (boys ages 6-12)
Gym Midgies (ages 6 and up)
Optional Rec (for high school age gymnasts)
AGFF (Advanced Gymnastics For Fun. For gymnasts ages 8-15 who have gone though all levels of Midgies and/or started out as a Rising Star or Aerial and decided that they do not wish to compete.)

★★★ Bemidji School District Programs:

Bemidji High School Gymnastics Team - The Gym Bin is the home of the BHS Varsity and Jr. Varsity Gymnastics Team
Bemidji Middle Gymnastics Team - The Gym Bin is the home of the Bemidji Middle School Gymnastics Team

Gym Bees
Gym Bin class gymnasts ages 3-5
Super Bees
Gym Bin Class gymnasts who were Advanced Gym Bees ages 4-5 who have been invited to be a SuperBee enroute to either the B Team or Midgies Program. SuperBees are level 1 gymnasts.
Gym Midgies (Levels 1A-D & 2A-D):
Gym Bin class gymnasts ages 6 and up. Gymnasts completing all levels of Gym Midgies may be asked to join the PreTeam.
Rising Stars *
Bemidji Gymnastics Club's USAG (USA Gymnastics) Jr. Olympic Pre-Competitive Program levels 2-3.
Bemidji Aerials*
Bemidji Gymnastics Club's USAG (USA Gymnastics) Jr. Olympic Competitive Program Levels 4-10.
All gymnasts compete in each event: floor, vault, balance beam and uneven bars.

The USAG Program is not connected with the High School in any way. High school age gymnasts choose whether they would like to be in the USAG program or the High School program.
The Bemidji High School Gymnastics Team (BHS)*
Bemidji High School offers gymnastics as an extracurricular sport. While the BHS Gymnastic Team uses the facilities at the Gym Bin and receive funding from the BGC, they are a separate entity. High School gymnasts may specialize in an event rather than compete all around. 5 gymnasts from the team are allowed to compete in each event.
   * Don Papreck (Pappy) who has worked at the Gym Bin since it opened, is currently the head coach for both the high school team and the USAG competitive team, the Aerials. This is a tribute to his strength as the leading gymnastics coach in the area. He has been hired by two separate entities, Bemidji High School and Bemidji Gymnastics Club.
