CANVASS-Mission: To plan and conduct an annual face to face canvass of all members and friends of HUUF.
Goals #1 To ask HUUF members and friends to pledge at least 2% of their income for the upcoming year. #2 To have a discussion of ideas and feedback regarding HUUF's future.
CARING-Mission: To promote the UUA principles with emphasis on creating a sense of community and connection amongst members and friends.
Goals: #1 Serve as a contact for needs of congregational members and friends. #2 Send cards. #3 Coordinate any special needs of members such as meals, visits, etc. #4 Celebrate contributions of youth and families
FACILITY-Mission: To provide and maintain a spiritual home.
Goals: #1 Figure out what we want & how to access the resources available to us. #2 Bring in a consultant form UUA to develop a survey to assess congregation's needs and building desires-canvass the congregation. #3 Determine how we can afford what we want.
FINANCE-Mission: Demonstrate accountability and effective use of our money
Goals: Electronically maintain financial data and begin employee status position for RE Coordinator.
#4 Maintain UU World magazine current list and UUA membership certification.
MEMBERSHIP-Mission: To consistently welcome visitors/guests and educate interested people about UUism towards becoming members of HUUF.
Goals #1 To increase membership. #2 To welcome visitors/guests. #3 Educate interested persons about UUism and HUUF.
NEWSLETTER/WEB SITE Mission: To publish monthly newsletter and design/maintain updated web site
GOALS: #1 Newsletter to contain upcoming service descriptions, Board and Committee minutes, new member cameos, announcements of social/educational/District/ UUA events, and other items of congregational interest. #2 Maintain current mailing lists. #3 Update web site with current information monthly.
RE-Mission: To plan programs for children and youth of all ages.
Goals: #1 Address the RE needs of all ages of kids at HUUF. #2Employ a quarter-time RE Coordinator. #3 Have adequate # of adults with RE/childcare to provide a safe environment for the kids.
SOCIAL ACTION/ENVIRONMENT-Mission: Help our communities become better places to live and raise our next generations.
Goal: #1 Ensure justice and equity for all people in our communities. #2 Promote a welcoming community where all voices can be heard and all people can participate. #3 Improve the health of the earth to improve the health of the people.
WORSHIP-Mission: To provide quality services which are inspiring, intellectually challeging and connecting to community.
Goals: #1 One guest speaker per month. #2 Intergenerational services. #3 Improve community regarding service. #4 Produce a template for consistent bulletins. #5 Have a complete description of services in the newsletter.
Objectives for Each Committee Based on HUUF Strategic Plan, 2005-06
We encourage all committees to meet the goals of:
Ö Open and frequent communication and visible outreach and
Ö Encouragement of active involvement of everyone for a full participation lay-lead fellowship
Worship
Assure consistent, quality Sunday services including the:
Ö Consistent use of microphone
Ö Inclusion of a part-time minister at least nine times throughout the year
Ö Congregational input through the canvass process and congregational meetings.
Ö Training of Service Coordinators
Ö Provision of child care in conjunction with RE
Facility
Examine the needs of our congregation and recommend a space that would fit those needs
Ö Aim at ownership of our own identifiable space that will serve our needs in cooperation with other interested social and religious groups.
Ö Explore the feasibility of a new building
Finance
Ö Demonstrate accountability and effective use of our money
Ö Implement and maintain electronic financial data system
Ö Develop a contract with financial service for oversight and consultation
Membership
Maintain and support our 100 active members and friends with an expansion to 150 through:
Ö Welcoming through greeting and socializing with visitors and new members
Ö Designation of a specific person to connect with visitors after the service
Ö New member orientation and recognition
Ö Celebrating life passages
Stewardship
Conduct an Annual Stewardship Drive to meet our expenses and expand our services and growth
Religious Education
Have religious/spiritual life-span education available for children, youth and adults.
Ö Childrens RE every Sunday
Ö Youth attendance at UU events
Ö Establish and encourage youth group
Ö Conduct 2 to 4 Adult enrichment sessions throughout the year
Board
Ö Designate $7,000 per year to the building fund.
Ö Conduct a Board orientation in May
Ö Provide support and direction to committees including:
o Conducting committee chair orientation
o Developing job descriptions for committee chairs
o Developing books for committee chairs that contain pertinent documents and information
o Assigning specific objectives to committees based on annual goals
Ö Revise administrative work to be shared more equally with a sharp focus on priorities.
Ö Encourage and support attendance at UU sponsored events.
